The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) announced today that the Colorado Springs World Arena Ice Hall has been awarded official designation as a U.S. Olympic Training Site for Figure Skating. Through a partnership with the USOC, U.S. Figure Skating and the World Arena Ice Hall, the seven-year agreement recognizes the quality of the Ice Hall facility and will help ensure world-class training for elite athletes in the future. 
“The City of Colorado Springs has had a lengthy and rewarding relationship with the USOC and U.S. Figure Skating. This recognition brings great honor to Colorado Springs and the World Arena Ice Hall. We’re proud of this world-class facility and the formal designation as a U.S. Olympic Training Site. This is another great way to celebrate the Spirit of the Springs,” Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach said.
Colorado Springs has been home to the USOC since 1978 and a center for international figure skating since the creation of the Broadmoor Skating Club in 1938. The City has hosted numerous international figure skating events, most recently the 2012 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships and the 2010 World Synchronized Figure Skating Championships. It has presented five World Championships, two World Junior Championships, three ISU Skate Americas and six U.S. Championships.
Today’s announcement will enhance the strong relationship between the City and Olympic sports.
"We're thrilled to announce the World Arena Ice Hall as a new U.S. Olympic Training Site in partnership with U.S. Figure Skating," said USOC CEO Scott Blackmun. "Colorado Springs has a long and storied history of figure skating success and we appreciate the World Arena's continued support of America's elite athletes."
The designation of the World Arena Ice Hall as a U.S. Olympic Training Site benefits the entire community – the City of Colorado Springs, U.S. Figure Skating, resident coaching staff and World Arena Ice Hall – by continuing to draw world-class figure skaters to Colorado Springs.
The mission of U.S. Olympic Training Sites is to access additional resources, services and facilities for athletes and National Governing Bodies (NGBs) while providing an elite athlete training environment that positively impacts performance.

32 Years of Framing in Colorado Springs

In 1980, three friends wanted to open a custom frame shop remodeled a Victorian home on Boulder Street between Nevada and Tejon. However, before they opened, it burnt to the ground. They moved to 725 North Tejon, but never changed the name. Terry Henderson bought the gallery 20 years later, continuing its excellent reputation as a custom-framing business. Three years later, he met Jennie and he will swear he did not know that she had been a Certified Picture Framer in California for over 25 years. They married and have since built the business into much more than it was.
In February of 2009, Jennie and Terry saw the opportunity to buy their own building with a lot more room to expand. They purchased 206 North Tejon, the old Novis Frame & Art, and moved to their current location. The move allowed them to showcase local artists in all forms of media, including original art, photography, both decorative and functional pottery, and jewelry.
The move also enabled them to offer scanning and reproduction of artwork and photography, providing quality Giclees using the latest state-of-the-art equipment.

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado is pleased to announce the appointment of Ray Reilly to their board of directors.
Reilly is the general manager of the Larry H. Miller Liberty Toyota dealership in the Powers Auto Park and the regional performance manager for all the other Larry H. Miller dealerships in Colorado. He has been with the organization for 23 years.

Chad Parker of Colorado Springs has been appointed a full-time agent for American Family Insurance Group, according to Danette Trujillo, district sales manager for the company.
Parker opened an office at 2130 S. Academy Blvd Ste 200 on January 2, 2012. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, evenings by appointment.
Parker has been a Colorado Springs resident for 25 years. He is a 5th generation Colorado native and graduate of Peyton High School. He successfully completed the 24-month American Family Insurance Agent-in-Training program under the mentoring of Agent John McDonald of Security, Colorado.
