Phil Rash, owner of the Dairy Queen on Hwy 85/87 in Fountain, reports that they'll soon be offering Orange Julius in addition to their grill and chill Dairy Queen menu. He hopes to be serving the frothy, all natural fruit drinks and premium fruit smoothies by the 1st of August.
Dairy Queen actually purchased Orange Julius more than 20 years ago, but only recently began a big push to combine the line with Dairy Queen franchise store.
"They made it easy." says Rash, "All we had to pay for was the equipment, and they got that configured to where it only takes up about 4 extra feet of counter space." Rash says he may hire 1-2 new employees per shift, depending on demand, to handle the station. He has other improvements and even expansion planned for the current location, perhaps later this year.
Dairy Queen, Fountain is located at 7010 S. Hwy 85/87 in Fountain just south of Fontaine Blvd at the intersection of Carson Blvd and Hwy 85/87.

Update: Culvers in Fountain Opened 11/7/2012
By Ed Duffy, Photos by Chris Walker
Culver’s restaurant, famous for their Butterburgers and frozen custard, has officially broken ground on their future location in Fountain, Colorado. The ceremony was held this week, across from the Walgreens on Fountain Mesa Road.
Construction is being done by Westec Construction Management of Longmont, CO. Culver’s Franchise owner, Mark Grant hopes to be open in Fountain around the end of October. Mark Grant Jr. is the franchise’s operating manager and lives in Fountain. The Grants have been working with the City of Fountain’s Economic Development department to secure the SBA financing needed to get the project underway.
The new restaurant will employ between 45 and 50 people, some of whom attended the ground breaking ceremony this week. Construction activity on the Mesa should be picking up in coming months. The Pacific Dental building is almost completed and several other national chains are in various stages of deal making, planning and approval. We’ll let you know when they actually turn some dirt.
In the meantime, if you just can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about, you can try a Culvers Butterburger at their other south side location; 1140 Lake Plaza Drive, Colorado Springs.
