Three Delights Caribbean Grill is now open at 4747 Flintridge Drive in Colorado Springs. (near Flintridge and Academy Blvd)

From their website: "Three Delights Caribbean Grill brings a taste of the islands to the Rockies.  Our goal is to offer authentic Caribbean cuisine similar to what is to be found in a typical Bahamian home.

The proprietors of the restaurant are from the Bahamas; a tropical haven of seven hundred islands and cays approximately 30 miles off the coast Florida.  Although you can find almost any international food in the Bahamas, traditional Bahamian cuisine is influenced by varied roots primarily those of European and African origins that have been blended with complimentary spices and fruits found in the islands.

The Bahamas is renowned for its beautiful sun, sand & sea complimented by the warmth of it's people and their hospitality.  It is commonplace to welcome visitors with a great food, drink and conversation in a relaxed atmosphere.  Three Delights Caribbean Grill is a casual dine in or take out restaurant that seeks to offer you a true taste of the Bahamas."

You can reach Three Delights at 719-599-5375. They're open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 8pm, Sunday from noon to 6pm and closed Monday. Visit them on the web at ThreeDelights.com

Small Busiiness Saturday is an annual promotion started by American Express to promote small businesses as well as use of the American Express cards.

This year, November 24th will mark the third year of the program.

How it works: Card members must register their cards at shopsmall.com, during the registration period (this year's started Nov 18th and registrations are limited). Corporate and prepaid cards are not eligible and online purchases don't qualify.

If the card member then spends at least $25 in a single transaction at a qualifying small merchant, they'll get a $25 statement credit on their Amex account within the next 8 weeks.

The promotion resulted in 100 million qualified transactions last year, and given buzz on the social pages and AMEX making free marketing materials available to merchants, this year is likely to be even bigger.

It really is a smart promotion on the part of AMEX. They get crowd sourced marketing. They generate goodwill buy supporting small shops at no cost to the shop owner, card holders get to support a local business at little or no cost to themselves and AMEX gets a surge in transactions on their cards.  Well done, I must say.

So my son gets back from delivering an order of business cards to Fountain Valley Mechanical in Fountain, Colorado, and he tells me about the big, yellow, Zombieland H2 parked out front with a box of Twinkies in it. I had to go check it out.

The back story; for those of you who haven't seen it, Zombieland is a  comedy movie about the zombie apocalypse. One of the main characters, played by Woody Harrelson, is on a quest for just one more Twinkie. There's also a point in the movie where he commandeers an H2 and paints the number "3" on the side, in honor of his hero, Dale Earnhardt.

Now with the demise of Twinkies a real possibility, Matt and Jenny Amos, owners of Fountain Valley Mechanical, decided to have some fun with current events and one of their favorite movies. They had a number 3 painted on the doors of their 2007, yellow H2, matching the one from the movie. It was Jenny's idea, but Matt added some flair with the skull hubcaps and to top it off, they threw in a box of Twinkies.

A bit of fun, or prudent preparation? Time will tell.

Bogie Rakidzich has been through good times and bad times throughout his eventful life. But it was a particularly bad time that inspired him to strive for success in his new venture. Good people helped him get back up and he wants to pay it forward. His plan is to use a successful business to enable him to do more charitable giving. Regardless of the motivation, GreatWorks Custom T-shirts and Apparel may be the right model in the right place.

Bogie was born in Chicago and moved to nearby Wisconsin at the age of 10. At 16 he headed west to California and got a job as a mechanical assembler at Northwestern Telecom in San Jose, and later at Great Western Conveyor.

At 18 he returned to Wisconsin for a while to help his folks with their jewelry business during the holidays. The Iranian hostage crisis inspired him to sign on with the Marines in 1979. After serving four years as an MP, Bogie ended his term of service at Camp Pendleton. From there he moved around a lot, Washington, Arizona, Florida, Wisconsin and did a little bit of everything from construction, commercial window washing, investment brokerage and Harley mechanic to name a few.

He was in Corpus Christi, helping his son bring his new business to new markets when Donna, a friend and companion from when they were just very small children, convinced him to finish up what he was working on and settle down with her in Colorado Springs. So in June of 2011, that's what he did.

Bogie says that although there were times in his life when he had enormous amounts of money, he didn't always spend it well. His carefree ways led to a very bad business deal at one point that left him broke and homeless. He remembers the help that he received from organizations, ministries, individuals and good folks in general and wants to give back when he can. He says that's what inspired him to go into business again, and where the name came from - GreatWorks. He hopes a successful business can help him help others do "great works".

GreatWorks Custom t-shirts and Apparel specializes in custom shirts made on-site. Under some circumstances he can even knock 'em out while you wait. GreatWorks features direct to garment printing on all natural fiber. There are no minimums and no set-up charges.  They even have an in-house photography studio. Why? So you can get a picture of yourself, the kiddos and/or the family dog and put it on a shirt or a pillowcase and send it to Grandma.

A ball park price for a single T-Shirt is between $15 and $20. Of course there are discounts for volume purchases. Other things  that will affect the price are the size of the print, type of material chosen and size of the shirt(s). Whether you want a single shirt to express yourself, a bunch of shirts for a family reunion or party, or a couple hundred shirts for an event or company, GreatWorks can fill the order quickly and affordably using quality printing on quality material.

You'll find GreatWorks at 636 S. Academy Blvd (the strip center alongside the Satellite Hotel), in Colorado Springs. You can call them at 719-290-7107 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. find them on Facebook as GreatWorks Unlimited, LLC.
