'JACK, A Moral Musical Tale'

Jack Be Nimble, Jack Horner, Jack and the Beanstalk, Stingy Jack, Jack O'Lantern, Jack and Jill, and Jack Sprat all come to life in this amusing and relevant original musical by Linda Weise. "It's been an idea in my mind for a while. Now seemed like the right time to put it on paper and bring it to life with the tremendous talent here at Colorado Springs Conservatory," says Weise.

The story starts on a school playground, anywhere in America. While children play and eat their lunches, a little boy named Jack and his friend Gillian take food, snacks, and lunch money from other children's backpacks and lunch pails. Once the children realize what has happened, Jack and Gillian pose dares for them in exchange for their personal belongings. Jack and Gillian's behavior catches the attention of the principal and she suspends them both for bullying. Jack is sent home and proclaims defiantly he needs no one and has no regrets for his actions. He soon falls asleep only to dream each of his dares coming to life in the shape of various "Jack" tales. After a torrent of manic dreams, Jack wakes with the realization bullying is not the answer and that one should "do unto others as you would want them to do unto you."

The outstanding cast of this premier includes CSC students, alumni, and mentors. Sam Bollinger, age 12, will portray Jack alongside 35 other students currently enrolled at the Conservatory. Alumni joining the cast are Tony award winner Josh Franklin and Mark Autry. Mentors joining the cast are Broadway veteran, Caren Tackett, Colin Gregory, director of "Jack" and Ian Ferguson, musical director. Art, set, and costume design are by C.C. Wells and Adelia Adams both CSC alumni.

Performances will take place at Colorado Colleges' Kathryn Mohrman Theater in Armstrong Hall, 14 E. Cache La Poudre St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903
