Press Release (Ybarra’s Boxing Gym)

This weekend the 2012 Colorado State Golden Gloves Tournament was held in Aurora, Colorado, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  Ybarras Boxing Club had two junior boxers representing its club.   LuisJoe Ybarra Jr. is a fifth grader at French Elementary in Security, Colorado.  LuisJoe won his third straight, Colorado State Golden Glove title in the 11-12 yr old 80lbs weight division by defeating Xavier Baca from Pueblo, Colorado.  LuisJoe Ybarra Jr, was also the recipient of the 2012 Colorado Golden Glove Outstanding Junior Boxer award.

When asked about how he felt  winning three straight titles, you could see his face glowing with pride and joy. “I just love to box” he said, “I think I was born to do this. It comes naturally to me. I feel good in the ring. I'm going back to the gym and start practicing for the National Junior Golden Gloves in Mesquite NV.”  They start in mid July 2012. In the first week of August it’s off to Kansas City Mo, for the Ringside World Championships where LuisJoe placed 2nd in 2011.

Ybarra’s second Champion is Luis Ramirez, an 8 year old 3rd grader from Stratton Meadows Elementary. This was his first Colorado State  Golden Glove Tournament. Luis defeated  Jake Santistevan, from North Denver Tigers in the 70lbs 8 year old weight class. He too was excited to win his first Colorado State Golden Gloves title. Luis trains with LuisJoe Ybarra Jr, to gain more experience in the gym. They have become good friends in and out of the gym. Congratulations to both of them.
