Bio Pappel, Mexico’s largest paper producer as well as recycler, recently celebrated the opening of its Colorado Springs collection center at 3240 Astrozon Blvd, just north of Drennan and west of Academy, a 31,000 square foot facility owned by WKB, LLC.
Bio Pappel collects cardboard and paper, which it uses to produce its own 100% recycled and recyclable, non-chlorine bleached, biodegradable paper. The raw materials from Colorado Springs are shipped to and used by their plant in Prewitt, New Mexico.
The facility accepts material from individuals as well as companies. Cardboard is currently paying .035 cents/lb and office paper .025 cents/lb. They also accept newspaper, but there’s no cash payment for it. For the individual it’s really more about putting waste paper to good use instead of adding it to a landfill. Companies who produce large quantities of waste can not only feel good about recycling, but also save good money on disposal fees.
The facility is open from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. To set up a commercial account, contact Recycling Coordinator, Marlene Romero-Phillips at 719-322-6785.
