Dancers Shimmy for TESSA, Domestic Violence Awareness
As Part of Worldwide Shimmy Mob

Several local dancers have a mission to raise awareness of domestic violence and funds for TESSA on Saturday, May 12th. The dancing will take place at several locations in Colorado Springs with three dances performed at each location:
•Third Space Coffee – 5670 N Academy Blvd. at 9am
•Library 21C – 1175 Chapel Hills Dr. at 10:10am
•Rico’s Café – 322 N Tejon St. at 10:45 am
•Downtown - Rocky Mountain Soap Market and  Zeezo’s on Tejon Street, Photography Studio at 127 ½ E. Bijou, and Acacia Park from 12-2:15pm

•Chapel Hills Mall - 1710 Briargate Blvd at 3:00 p.m.
The Colorado Springs Shimmy Mob team has taken part in the worldwide Shimmy Mob for four years, and the Team has raised approximately $3,500 for TESSA. TESSA is dedicated to helping women and their children achieve safety and wellbeing while challenging communities to end sexual and family violence. TESSA’s programs include a confidential Safehouse, Victim Advocacy, Counseling and Children’s Programs, a 24/7 Crisis Line, and Community Outreach and Education.
The efforts of the Colorado Springs Team are part of the overall Shimmy Mob goal - to raise awareness of domestic violence and to promote and support organizations making a difference for domestic violence victims.
Shimmy Mob performances take place on World Bellydance Day as part of a flash mob type event with dancers and non-dancers performing a belly dance choreography. Worldwide there are 1991 registered participants across 169 cities.
